The nineteenth century is known as the ‘golden age’of Russian literature. This edition is designed for first and second year undergraduate students as an introduction to twenty two leading writers of the period, from Karamzin to Chekhov. Concise background information on each author is given in Russian, with a chronology of major publications and extracts from key works. This anthology provides a comprehsive overview of the literature, with its emphasis on target language immersion and will also improve students’ language acquisition.
